Save Me
You could get a gold record for selling 25,000 copies of an album in Hong Kong. If you managed 50,000 copies, you get a platinum record. But these figures aren't being used anymore. Simply because sales have plummeted so badly that there's no point in using them, considering that only three albums out of those released in the whole of 2004 sold more than 30,000 copies.
What a sad state of affairs!
Nowadays, people seem to have a different way of thinking. We are listening to songs more often than ever, but few seem to buy albums anymore.
Being still very much into the culture of buying albums, I am probably considered a rare species. I'm sure some singers/musicians take great pains to come up with the concept, image and sequence of tracks in an album. I don't want to come to a point in time when singers don't release albums anymore and I have to download new songs instead of buying a proper album.
Save the industry please!

It's sad. However, I think it's just desserts for record companies for shoving all those crap down our throats for the last decade 1994-2004.
Waiting anxiously for Sandy to release her new album.

was mungy / yung referring to sammi's albums? *i blur*
they are if you know where to look. u'll probably need to go to those shops that specialise in hk imports. u can try the one in chinatown called foo leong, or the one in shaw tower on the second floor.
I nver mention names wor...
As for the 3 albums, i think it's Hacken Lee, and maybe the Alan/Hacken one...Can't remember, only know it's not Sammi or Hocc :(
I also like to buy albums cos it's a whole package, plus those things i mentioned - concept, song sequence, image, photos etc.
well, if you dont count the number of albums joey and the twins churned out in one year. Only Hacken, Jacky and Eason managed to hit the 30 000 mark with just one album release in receny sales history.
Btwn, it was a general comment. Not directed any one artiste.

Foo Leong sells CDs cheap but their shop is small so can't stock too much...Shaw Tower more ex but i think they can import most things if u ask them. The guy seems quite knowledgeable.
If u r interested i can try to give u directions to get there.
