Heaven's Girl, Blue Shoes and Your Girlfriend

Allow me a light moment to just admit that there are a number of so-called ‘K-songs’ that have caught my ears recently (though I must be quick to add that an entire album of these songs will bore me and someone who consistently churns out such material does not feature highly in my favourites list!)

Anyway, back to the subject...First of all, Joey's "Bi-Heart" album. My favourite song may be “越唱越強”, but I am liking ballads like “天之驕女” (Heaven's Girl), “損友” (Bad Company), “罪魁” (Ring-leader) and “還未” (Not Yet) more with each listen. Seems to me that “天之驕女” is a true reflection of her life. My personal view is that nobody does these type of songs better than Joey at the moment, bless her voice.

Then there is “藍鞋子” (Blue Shoes) by Stephy, a clever pun of 'Boy'. Her first plug “青山散步” (Aoyama Walk) annoys me! Well, I think her voice is suited to Bossa Nova but it’s just not my thing. “藍鞋子”, however, caught me immediately. Yeah yeah, it’s a typical ‘K-song’, so what? To me, they can be divided into two categories - I like, and I don't like. “藍鞋子” falls into the first category...

Next, surprisingly, “你女友” (Your Girlfriend) by Bobo! Earlier I had said that it’s nice but not very special. The first time I heard the song, “心灰姑娘” and “下個密碼”, I wasn’t very impressed. But darn, after playing the EP a lot these few days, I like the songs better with each listen. I have no choice now but to eat my words and admit that I like “你女友” quite a lot! (Ah Vii will probably laugh at me for this...hohoh...)

Still, I have to say that it's Hocc's work on “下個密碼” that made me buy Bobo's CD in the first place. I won’t say the EP is great, but it’s a good effort with songs of different styles thrown in. “Tee Time” is probably the first time she's tackling a rocking Avril Lavigne-like song (I still like Joey’s “越唱越強” better, haha). Not bad, but my feeling is that the song 好像少了什麼. Perhaps her delivery/singing on this album isn't as good as I expected? I’m a bit disappointed. Hey, she sounded really good singing “羽毛” at a live performance several months ago, what happened?
